Last week at IFA we saw big announcements from Samsung and Motorola with the launch of their new flagship devices. What received slightly less attention was Sony’s announcement of their new flagship devices, the Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. It’s a little unfortunate that these devices did not receive the same level of attention as the Z3 devices seem to be pretty good in terms of their specs. The Z3 Compact comes loaded with a 4.6” Full HD display (720 x 1280p, 319 ppi) Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal Storage and micro SD (128 GB). In addition, the Z3 Compact comes equipped with a whopping 20.7 MP rear camera and a 2.2 MP front facing shooter. The device is waterproof, dust tight and comes installed with Android 4.4 (KitKat). All in all, not a bad little device.
We had previously reported that UK retailer Clove were pricing the Z3 Compact at £420 in the UK which was £10 cheaper than Sony and Amazon who are both pricing the unit currently at £429.99 for pre-order. Well, we can now report that Clove seem to be offering a super deal for the Z3 Compact for those who pre-order now. Instead of the £429.99 price listed by both Sony and Amazon and even the $420 price previously listed by Clove you can order the Z3 Compact today for as little as £349. Before you ask, the price is inclusive of VAT. It seems Clove is not the only UK retailer offering a deal either. Handtec are also listing a pre-order reduced price which is actually £1 cheaper than Clove at £348.
It is not currently known why both Clove and Handtec have dropped the price as Sony and Amazon are both still listing the device at the full £430 price tag. It is also not known how likely it will remain available at this price and so anyone who was thinking of buying Sony’s new Z3 Compact will probably do well to place a pre-order as soon as possible. To put this into perspective both Sony and Amazon are still selling the Xperia Z1 Compact for £310 in the UK. With only a £40 difference between the Z1 Compact and Z3 Compact this really might be the best time to buy.
