Gionee has launched its new flagship Elife E8 and a second
Marathon M5 smartphone in Beijing, China. The Elife E8 has a whopping 24
megapixel rear camera and according to Gionee can produce photographs up to 120
mp in resolution.
Gionee says the E8 is also the first Android smartphone to
come with ‘lossless’ zoom that will maintain image quality even if the user
keeps the zoom at 3X. The front camera is 8 megapixels.
Other key specifications of the E8 are: 6-inch WQHD Super
AMOLED display (2560×1440 pixels resolution). It has a MediaTek MTK6795 Chipset
which is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. E8 comes with 3GB RAM and
64GB ROM and runs Android 5.1 with Gionee’s Amigo 3.1 UI on top. This is a
dual-SIM 4G smartphone with a 35000 mAH battery. Additionally Elife E8 has a
fingerprint recognition system.
The Marathon M5 has a 5.5inch HD AMOLED screen, 2GB RAM,
16GB storage space. The rear camera on the M5 is 13 megapixels and front camera
is 5 megapixels. It also runs Android L. The biggest USP of the M5 is the 6000
mAh battery that Gionee says will lasts for up to 4 days. Gionee claims the
M5’s standby time is 62 hours even there is only 5 per cent battery left.
Additionally the M5 is capable of reverse charging which means you can use it
as power bank to power two other mobile phones, says Gionee. The Marathon M5 is
priced at 2299 RMB which is around Rs 23,000 when converted and the ELIFE E8 at
3999 RMB which is around Rs 41,000. Gionee has not given a release date for
these smartphones in India. -
