The OnePlus One is arguably the greatest smartphone deal
around (although the Asus ZenFone 2 is pretty fantastic too).
Starting from $300 at launch, you got a phone with a
5.5-inch full HD screen, 13MP main camera, 5MP selfie camera and Snapdragon 801
processor.
The company has confirmed that a OnePlus 2 will be coming,
while also adding that it will be using the new Snapdragon 810 chip. Otherwise,
no other information has been released.
Rumours have been circulating that this new phone will be
priced in the region of $322.
But now, OnePlus has addressed these rumours, saying that
the high cost of the Snapdragon 810 means it will definitely be above that
price-point.
"We're paying more for the 810 than we ever have for
the 801. In fact, the cost is almost 60 percent higher, and we're not getting
any discount," the company explained.
"We can tell you now that the price of the 2 will
certainly be higher than $322."
Of course, the Snapdragon 810 has endured scathing
criticism, as it throttles itself frequently and has a reputation for running
hotter than rival processors.
But OnePlus has moved to reassure customers that things will
be just fine.
"Before jumping to conclusions about the quality of the
2, we ask all of our fans and critics to just wait and see," the firm
explained.
"We're confident in our products, and we were careful
to only choose components that are fit for the successor of the Flagship
Killer."
